Eligible patients invited to book COVID-19 vaccine this week at Leicester hubs

If you are 70 years+ or Clinically Extremely Vulnerable with a shielding letter from the Government, you can book your vaccine at a Leicester hub
vaccine

The NHS in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland is this week, offering 1000 COVID-19 vaccination appointments a day, for members of the public with an NHS number, who are

  1. 70 years +
  2. Clinically Extremely Vulnerable with a shielding letter from the Government

..and have not yet been invited for their first dose.

You can read more and access the vaccine booking link on the Leicester Hospitals website

This is to ensure that all eligible people who have not yet had a vaccine invitation to receive their first dose, have a chance to book for appointments between today 26 January and 1 February.

Photo ID and proof of eligibility (a current shielding letter) will need to be provided on arrival. Please note that the second dose of the vaccine may be offered at another local vaccination site and not necessarily at the same site of the first dose.

In addition, a mass vaccination hub at the Peepul Centre in Leicester has just opened to which eligible patients will be invited to make bookings by a letter from the national NHS programme. .

Vaccination at centralised hubs is separate from the local hospital vaccine programme in Rutland that is managed by the Rutland Health Primary Care Network (PCN). Neither the PCN nor your GP practice are involved in the city hub bookings, so it is important that you do not call your GP practice regarding vaccination at the Leicester hubs.

Do not worry if you are unable or unwilling to travel to a hospital hub to receive vaccination. Subject to vaccine supply, the Rutland PCN hopes to begin invitations to the Oakham vaccination centre for people 70 years+ and Clinically Extremely Vulnerable with a shielding letter, in the coming days. If you are housebound you will receive a home visit (starting next week). Housebound patients will receive a letter from their practice explaining the process and practice staff doing home-visits will carry identification from their GP practice and the PCN.
