Carers Week 2021 'Making Caring Visible and Valued: A Focus on Carers Mental Health in Rutland.

It was great to celebrate Carers Week from the 7th- 13th June 2021. Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring; it highlights the challenges unpaid carers face and recognises the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the year. This year's theme was ‘Making Caring Visible and Valued.’

The role of an unpaid carer has its challenges, and these have been heightened by the pandemic. Here at Healthwatch Rutland we wanted to hear more about carers mental health and feed their input into the ‘Step up to Great Mental Health Consultation’. This was a public consultation run by Leicestershire Partnership Trust on proposals to invest in and improve adult mental health services for people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
