During visits to Rutland Care Homes we became aware of issues with access to dental services. We were told that lack of dental care for residents impacted negatively on their health and wellbeing and was a cause for concern.

This survey was planned as a joint collaboration between Healthwatch Rutland and East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group (ELRCCG). Both organisations were keen to know what Rutland people feel about primary care services.
Part of our local Healthwatch programme is to carry out Enter and View visits. Healthwatch Rutland authorised representatives carry out these visits to health and social care services to find out how they are being run and make recommendations.
The issues highlighted included delayed transfer of care, discharge from hospital without sufficient support in place, discharge from hospital when the individual requires rehabilitation rather than in-home support and confusion upon returning home.
