Voluntary Action Rutland: Relocating & Reshaping

December 2022 saw Voluntary Action Rutland make a huge change, probably the biggest in its history.

Voluntary Action Rutland (VAR) provided a wide range of services to the Rutland community from its premises on Lands’ End Way, Oakham for over 23 years.  Thousands of community activities and meetings took place at the Rutland Community Hub over this time.  Often, more than 28,000 people a year walked through their doors.  The very popular and much-used community transport and social car scheme has been running, continuously and without a break, for over 43 years now!

CEO, Tom Walters said:

"December 2022 saw VAR make a huge change, probably the biggest in our history. We sold our Community Hub, have downsized and are now looking to come into 2023/24 as a leaner charity, keen to once more serve the wider needs of our rural communities across the entire county.  In the immediate term, and for the future, our volunteer transport scheme will continue to operate as normal; this will see VAR returning to its roots as a community transport and social car service as we shape our vision and offering going forward".

Can you help VAR make Christmas a little merrier for those who might not have much under the tree this year? They are looking for donations of new items for all ages.
