Experiences of the Urgent Care Centre in Oakham

Oakham Urgent Care Centre: Enter and View Report

Throughout our outreach activities and project engagement work, we often hear people in Rutland people talk about confusion about where, when and how to access Urgent Care services.

To find out more about how local urgent care services are meeting people's needs Healthwatch Rutland recently visited the Urgent Care Centre in Oakham to listen to people's experiences of using it.

We undertook planned Enter and View visits on the 12th of January, 6:30 pm-9 pm and the 14th of January, 10 am-4 pm.

We engaged with 49 people in total, 17 people in person and 32 people through an online survey.

Our report highlights that people are generally happy with the local care they received but there is still confusion about how and when to access care.

  • 13 of the 17 people we spoke to were happy that they received the care they needed
  • Everyone attending with a prebooked appointment was seen on time
  • The survey revealed some negative comments about what care is on offer at the centre: "This survey sums up the big issue: you’re asking about a service that occurs at specific times during the week. At other times of the day, it is a different service offer."
