Rutland’s new Minor Illness and Injury service

From 1 April 2026, the NHS will introduce a new Minor Illness and Injury Service at Rutland Memorial Hospital, Oakham.

The service will be delivered by DHU Healthcare and aims to make it easier for local residents to access timely care for urgent but non‑life‑threatening health concerns.

The service will operate 1pm–9pm daily and will provide:

  • Booked appointments for minor illnesses, following contact with a GP practice or NHS 111
  • Walk‑in access for minor injuries
  • Extended X‑ray availability on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (11am–7pm) from 13th April 2026.

This new model replaces the existing Oakham Urgent Care Centre and Oakham Minor Injury Unit, which will close on 31 March 2026, following the public consultation held in early 2025.

These changes are designed to ensure residents receive the right care, in the right place, first time, helping to reduce unnecessary travel and waiting.
