Access to health services in Rutland where treatment is needed on the same day
It has been confirmed that the new combined minor illness and minor injury service will be opening 1 April 2026.
GP practices and NHS 111 will be able to book appointments at the new service between 1pm and 9pm, seven days a week. This will largely be an appointment-based service but there will be a small number of slots that people can walk-in to book later in the day. It is recommended that people to go through their GP practice or NHS 111 to ensure they receive care in the right place for them, with a booked appointment to keep their waiting time down.
The service will be provided by nurses, advanced nurse practitioners and other clinicians who have access to and guidance from a GP. If people need it, they would receive a prescription for medication.
X-rays will continue to be available on Tuesdays and Wednesday. Discussions are continuing with a view to extending the provision and it is hoped that an additional weekday will be able to be offered in the future.
In February, Rutland County Council’s Planning Committee will be considering proposals for refurbishing the premises at Rutland Memorial Hospital, which will include the area that the new combined service will occupy. There is a separate capital bid being considered for the provision of new x-ray equipment.
