Autumn COVID Booster Vaccination Programme
Due to risks presented by a new COVID-19 variant BA.2.86, the Government has brought forward the start of the Autumn booster programme.
The adult COVID and flu vaccination programmes had been due to start in October to maximise protection over the winter months. But following the national announcement, the local NHS in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, along with the rest of the country, began vaccinating those most at risk from 11 September.
Residents of care homes and those most at risk, including those who are immunosuppressed, started to receive their COVID vaccine first. This has been followed by carers, pregnant women and health and social care staff, as well as adults aged 65 and over since 18 September.
The NHS in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland is offering boosters through vaccination sites including pharmacies and vaccination centres. The NHS is inviting eligible people to book an appointment on the National Booking Service, but you will not be able to make an appointment through your Rutland GP practice. Where can I get my booster in Rutland?
In Rutland, COVID vaccinations are being offered through the Rutland Late Night Pharmacy in Oakham. Mr Pickford's Pharmacy will also be delivering the boosters in the near future.
A mobile Vaccination Unit will also provide access to COVID and flu vaccinations. You will not need to make an appointment in order to qualify, simply arrive on the day during the times provided:

The four GP practices in Rutland are not offering the COVID boosters this Autumn and instead, will focus on providing a successful flu vaccination programme. Your GP practice will contact you to book your flu vaccination appointment.
