Oakham Medical Practice

What is the OMP PPG?

The Patient Participation Group acts as a liaison between patients and Oakham Medical Practice (OMP) to:

  • Facilitate communication between patients and the practice.

  • Offer feedback from the patient's perspective via regular consultation with the practice.

  • Provide practical support where appropriate

What does the PPG do?

Members of the PPG Committee meet regularly with the teams at OMP and discuss and develop ideas designed to improve the operation of the practice. The Committee provide patient feedback and a forum for constructive thought and criticism for the well-being of the practice and patients.

The PPG works with the doctors and clinical staff representing patients' views to highlight areas of concern and to help the practice to bring about improvements.

What is the PPG working on at present?

Aiming to improve communication, the committee started by introducing a regular newsletter. The January and February newsletters described the roles of the different types of clinical and non-clinical personnel at OMP.

An open public meeting was organised by the PPG on the 9 March 2023.  At this meeting the PPG had the benefit of a presentation from Dr Lucy Pearson and various questions raised by patients were discussed. A future newsletter will report on the public meeting and give feedback. The commitee are also developing strategies to spread more information about the PPG and ways to collate patient feedback.

The PPG is keen to hear from any patients with comments. Please e-mail the group via ppgoakham@gmail.com
