Uppingham Surgery’s Ketton branch to close

East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group’s (ELR CCG) Primary Care Commissioning Committee (PCCC) has agreed to close Ketton Branch Surgery, following a public consultation.
GP consulting with a patient

The practice began a public consultation on 1 February 2018 which closed on 1 June 2018. The initial consultation, due to end on 1 May, was extended by a month following a request from patients for more detailed information and a change in some of the survey questions.

Although there was support from the 417 respondents and the 50 attendants at face-to-face sessions, to keep Ketton Branch Surgery open, the PCCC was satisfied that Uppingham Surgery’s recommendation to the PCCC detailed sufficient measures to minimise any impact a closure would have on Ketton patients.

We understand the reasons for the decision to close the branch surgery and have sought reassurance from the CCG that vulnerable people without transport will be offered home visits if required. We also requested that this be monitored on an ongoing basis by the CCG to ensure that fair access to services is maintained.

Going forward, Uppingham Surgery will write to patients informing them of the decision and next steps.
